Plans for the Class of 1971’s 55th Reunion – Fall of 2026
PLANS FOR THE CLASS OF 1971’s 55th REUNION – FALL OF 2026
In late 2024, the Reunion Committee asked our 36 Company Reps to conduct a Class survey regarding
our 55th Reunion to be held in Annapolis in 2026.
A summary of the results of the survey and actions taken by our Reunion Committee are shown below.
Please read all of the following to help you better understand how we have been deciding what date
to hold our every 5-year reunions on since the 45th. It’s been challenging, but both the 45th &
50th reunions were successful. The Committee expects the 55th to be successful as well, especially
with your attendance!
1 – The Reunion Committee decided to wait until the 2026 Football schedule is announced by the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and NAAA to decide on the dates for the 55th reunion.
2 – The majority of the Class prefers a Reunion in Annapolis with a home football game. It is now
standard for the AAC to announce fall football schedules late February, about 6 months prior to
Navy’s first home football game
This late announcement challenges everyone planning fall trips/activities; ‘71 Classmates &
Families/Friends, NAAA, USNA, Annapolis hotels & other vendors, the Reunion Committee, etc.
3 – Based on survey results, the DoubleTree Annapolis has ’71 penciled in for 23-26 Sep 2026 and
14-17 Oct 2026, with the understanding the hotel will contact us if other groups want to reserve
either date so we would have a chance to prevent the group from contracting those dates; however,
this would require us to initiate a contract with the DoubleTree.
4 – NAAA has ’71 penciled in for a tailgate in the N-Star room on either 26 Sep 2026 or 17 Oct
2026.
5 – Bo Brooks, the NAAA Food & Beverage vendor for the N-Star room has ’71 penciled in to provide
tailgate services on either 26 Sep 2026 or 17 Oct 2026.
6 – Once the 2026 football schedule is announced, we will pick either the weekend of 26 Sep or 17
Oct for our 55th Reunion, provided there is a home football game scheduled on that date.
7 – If no home game is scheduled on either of those two dates, we will pick a date that is as close
as possible to one of those two dates that has a home football game. If none of the above are
possible, we will select the weekend of 26 Sep or 17 Oct with either an away football game or no
football game.
Thanks to our Company Reps and to all of you who answered this first survey.
There will be more to follow as we get closer and can determine more accurately our final reunion
date when we’ll initiate another survey to help estimate the number of Classmates & Guests planning to attend our 55th!
